Parson's Open House

I haven't been drawing a lot lately. My grandmother got sick and I just got out of the routine. I'm going to switch it up and start drawing in the mornings instead of the evenings from now on. Just wanted to note that I was studying three pages of Takamura's book per day with the goal of finishing the book in 3 months time. There are four chapters and I've finished one. Studying every night was interrupted by my grandmother's hospitalization and the fact that I've been going to sleep earlier since I've started taking time in the morning to do yoga.

Anyhow, this post is about my wonderful day at Parson's Open House for the fashion design program!!!

It was worth going. I learned a lot about the application process that I think will help me get accepted. I learned that up to 31 credits from your undergraduate degree can be transferred over which is great financially. I also learned that a good essay goes a long way. It can get you a scholarship to the program and can make the difference between you being accepted or not.

Monica Singh was there as an alumni. She is an ambassador for Acid Attack Survivors. I'd seen her story on tv before and it was really cool seeing her at the presentation to support future fashionistas like herself.

They gave us a tour of the building on 14th Street and 5th Ave. I was so excited to see the studios! They really brought home the fact that the program is very hands-on and not lecture-based. I just pictured myself there, working away. It's going to be a lot of work since I have a job full-time but time goes by super fast and it is something that will stay with me forever.

2016.. making it happen!!
